The city of Jena with its population of just over 100,000, nestled in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Germany, combines the infrastructure of a modern metropolis with the closeness to nature of a rural area and cultivates a strongly student-oriented culture through its more than 25,000 students. FSU Jena shows itself worthy of its tradition by remaining what it has always been: a modern, cosmopolitan university that combines high academic standards with a student-friendly university culture. FSU Jena maintains intensive exchange contacts with numerous universities abroad. Through the Socrates and Erasmus programs, students have the opportunity to spend one or more semesters at a partner university. Credits earned abroad can be recognized in Jena within the framework of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
